So this is the second recipe that I am sharing on my blog, although calling it that might be a little bit of a stretch. I was introduced to the Chunky Monkey Protein Shake a few years ago and I used to make it religiously after completing a tough Saturday morning training session.
Now that I am taking my training seriously again, making sure that I consume enough protein to feed my muscles is really important. Protein is vital for maintaining a healthy body and is crucial for building lean muscle mass. My three fitness goals for 2016 require me to build a strong and flexible body. Making sure I get my nutrition right will play a fundamental role in me doing that and ultimately achieving my goals. After all you can’t out train a bad diet!
I want to lead a healthy lifestyle and get as much of my protein as possible through real food but there are times when I need a quick protein hit. That is the reason that I use protein powders, they are a convenient way to give your muscles what they need. However I find that at times they can become a little boring and that is where the Chunky Monkey Protein Shake recipe comes in. It is stupidly simple to make, full of good stuff and because it is homemade you know it is fresh!
So what goes into a Chunky Monkey Protein Shake? Simple really, a banana, 40g of rolled oats, two tablespoons of peanut butter, a scoop of chocolate protein powder and 200ml of soya milk. All you need to do is peel the banana, chop it up and chuck it in a blender with the rest of the ingredients before giving it a good blitz.
If you are someone who likes to prep their food in advance you can chop the banana up and freeze it, meaning that you don’t need any ice cubes.
1 medium banana
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
200ml of soya milk
1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
40g of rolled oats
I hope you give the recipe a try and if you have got any tasty protein shake recipes please let me know.
