A couple of weeks ago sports nutrition company Sci-MX got in touch with me about trialling some of their new products. Being asked to try their new products was really exciting for two reasons; firstly it was my first ‘product’ test as a fitness blogger. Secondly I have used Sci-MX products for a while and so was delighted to have the opportunity to try out their new range. At this point I just want to point out that I have not been paid to review or endorse these products, I have no agreement or deal with Sci-MX. This review is my unbiased opinion of their new products.
So what new products did I get to try? Well the box of goodies included:
- 2 x new Pro2Go Protein Cookies (Double Choc Chip and Strawberry & White Choc Chip)
- 2 x new Pro2Go Protein Oat Bakes (Strawberry Cheesecake and Cookies & Cream)
- Pro2Go Strawberry Protein shake
- Choc Chip Protein Brownie
When the box arrived it was very tempting to open everything and try it straight away, however I wanted to create a real test for the products. For those who don’t know about the Sci-MX Pro2Go range, it was created to help people consume the right amount of protein they need in an ultra-convenient way. After all, for people who are always on the go it is a challenge to make sure you are consuming enough protein to help achieve your training goals.
For me there is also another benefit and it is the reason I am such a big fan of the Sci-MX Pro2Go range, all the products are really tasty and make great on the go snacks. I work in an office where there is an endless supply of sweets and biscuits, so keeping my diet clean is a major challenge. That is where the Pro2Go range comes in, I reach for a Pro2Go Flapjack or Duo Bar rather than a custard cream! With this in mind that seemed like the perfect way to trial the new products I had been sent, I would try them as my usual mid afternoon protein hit!
On Monday last week I started my Sci-MX trial and below are my honest opinions on the new range of products:
I’ve tried the big brother of these cookies (the range is available in 50g and 70g sizes) before and really like them. I was intrigued to see if one mini cookie would be enough for me as my afternoon snack and the answer was no! I enjoyed the Double Choc Chip one so much I ate the Strawberry and White Choc Chip one straight after. These cookies might be smaller but they still pack a delicious punch!
This product was the one that I was least excited about. They didn’t look particularly filling and I wasn’t sure about the Strawberry Cheesecake flavour. When I tried them on Tuesday afternoon I was pleasantly surprised by how good they tasted. I would say that you need two if they are going to be your afternoon protein snack. However if you fancy something healthier than a digestive biscuit with your morning cup of tea you won’t go wrong with one of these.
So as soon as I heard Sci-MX were releasing a chocolate protein brownie I was desperate to try it. I have a really sweet tooth and I thought the idea of a chocolate protein brownie was amazing. I am delighted to say that the team at Sci-MX have not let me down, the product is delicious. I reckon you could serve it warmed with ice cream at a dinner party and no one would know it was a protein product, it is that good!
The final product I tested was the Pro2Go Strawberry Milkshake. As a kid I was a massive milkshake fan so I am a bit of an expert on how they should taste. I was blown away by how delicious Sci-MX have made this drink. If I had done a blind taste test with Frijj and Yazoo milkshakes I am certain that I would not have been able to tell you which one was the protein shake. Sci-Mx have created a tasty milkshake and there was no hint of the powdery aftertaste you sometimes get with other brands.
You can probably guess from this post that I think the new range of Sci-MX Pro2Go products is a winner! My favourite items were the Strawberry Milkshake and and the Choc Chip Protein Brownie. I enjoyed them so much I’ve ordered a box of both! If you want to check out the complete Sci-MX Pro2Go range just click here.
